Job Description: RED are a leading UK recruitment consultancy based in the north-west of England. RED deal nationally and internationally with leading contractors, consultants and clients from within the transmission and distribution industry.
For one of our leading clients we have an excellent opportunity for protection design engineers.
As design engineer you wil be responsible for providing protection designs, solutions and technical input to contracts and all areas within the employee’s business area.
Reports to the Principal Engineer – Protection
Tasks: Responsible for the production of protection and control schematics for 132kV up to 400kV substations. Responsible for the production of Engineering and Test Specifications for new and existing solutions.
Accountable for attending internal and external design reviews for technical input. Ensures quality and consistency by carrying out functional testing during the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) phase with the client. Assists in Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and specialist commissioning assistance when required. Accountable for mentoring new members of the engineering department. Maintaining consistency of design on each contract by adherence to processes. Attends Technical meetings with the client as and when required.
Works closely with fellow engineers and project managers. Abide by all business compliance requirements in line with Company policies, for example Business Conduct Guidelines & Confidential Information.
Education:
HNC / Degree Qualified in Electrical Engineering
Experience: Typically six years design experience within the Electricity Transmission and Distribution industry. Fully conversant with the latest Transmission and Distribution standards & technologies. Extensive knowledge of protection schemes. Good standard of IT literacy – especially Word and Excel Good written communication and interpersonal skills.
